You are planning your first AdWords campaign and you don't know how to find keywords to use? You have doubts on how to implement the match type? Follow these tips...
Write the key words
Answer questions and write their answers
What to sell? which items sell? (ex: 10 gb mp3 player, mp3 player, ...)
which brands sell? What brand are your products? (ex: asus mp3 player, samsung mp3 player, ...)
What functions are your products? which features differentiates them from the competition? (ex: 16 gb mp3 player, solar power mp3 player.)
What services do you offer? (ex: mp3 player free shipping, ...)
Expand, define the areas and themes
1-)Add variants, singular and plural, ...
2-) Add synonyms
3-) extends the list of theme words
4-)delete too generic words
Limits, Match Type
Broad match: keyword
mp3 player
All searches containing the words, in any order, will turn the impression
broad match will generates many impressions and many click usually with low CTR and low conversion rate
Word to phrase match:
"mp3 player"
All searches containing the keywords shown in quotation marks in the same exact order will trigger the ad. Even phrases that contain the Word can trigger ads.
The query the best mp3 player will trigger ads
The match phrase restricts the scope than generic but increases the specificity of searches that trigger your ads
Exact match keyword:
[mp3 player]
Only the exact sequence of the keywords shown in parentheses, without any word prepended or measure, can activate the impression.
Negative word:
-video
The negative keywords are very useful to exclude keywords that may be associated with other products.
Embedded match Word:
-[Avatar]
This method is used a lot by those selling gadgets and products related to trademarks, movies/video games and doesn't want to show their ads when a user searches for the brand.
Using the keyword-[Avatar] ads will be displayed only when the word Avatar is associated with another word such as avatar or avatar book t-shirt
The single query avatar will not trigger ads
